HairDX Launches Genetic Test for Women's Hair Loss The HairDx folks, who came out with a genetic test for men's hair loss, have now introduced a test for women. The HairDX Genetic Test for Female Pattern Hair Loss provides women with a score, called the CAG repeat score. If you have a lower score, that is associated with a higher risk for significant hair loss. A higher CAG test score is associated with a lower risk for hair loss. What they found is that only 2.3% of women with a CAG test score below 15 do NOT develop Female Pattern Hair Loss. So it's a pretty accurate way to see if you're at risk, and allows for treatment and early intervention to begin before hair is even lost. To be tested, you order a kit, and once you have it, swab the inside of your cheek, mail it off to the HairDX lab, and you get results quickly, via a secure web site. The test costs $149. Might be worth checking out if you are worried about hair loss down the line.
